It seems to me that the administrators of this forum
are aware that many of the ad banners that pay for lawn
site need promoting on thier part. the number of hits
on this site is tallied much like subscription numbers
figure into ad rates for magazines and newspapers. ERGO!
if you like lawnsite - click on an ad now and then.
BUT*** If the reps. are paying attention to the content
of this forum then they know this is a tough crowd to sell
If i had products to sell I would take advantage of this
group as a nationwide R and D dept. I'm already singing
the praises of SHINDIAWA , toro, EX-MARK, and a few others
send me a monthly check or some free stuff. DOES anyone
remember how KOOL cigarette brand painted vw bugs back in
the 70's and hired the owners to promote thier products
if NASCAR CAN SELL AD SPACE why cant I sell space on my
truck or mowers. TOO much coffee this morning sorry for
    the ramble

I'm not lucky enough to have any sponsors yet although
I was merely suggesting it to any mfg. rep out there who
probably monitor this site. send us some free products
to try out. If we like them we will let everyone know.
I could test drive a ztr for the month of april if any
    one is interested

We had a discussion on this about a year or so ago. I think it is a good idea. Some company could furnish me a ZTR and some puter company could furnish a laptop to mount on it so I could Moderate from the turf. Wake me up, I'm dreaming. :D

turf mag did an article a few yrs back about a high
school age guy who had his own web page building buis.
and was building up a lawn mowing buis. because he liked
that better. I e-mailed the guy and he did his editing
while out out mowing from a laptop.

My stripes would be so crocked and then I would be all embarassed. He must of had a slow mower to do that. I would be running over trees and flowers, what a mess. :p

A few years ago I was at the local Ford dealer buying a fertilizer spreader, he was trying to talk me into one of the then new Ford front mount mowers. He offered me a pretty good discount if I bought one and used it for my business, he wanted it to be seen out cutting. A friend of mine tried it out and bent a tie rod end the first ditch he drove across. They still have it and use it as a loaner when someone has a mower in to be repaired.
Talk to your dealer, if you have a good looking outfit he might give you a discount on parts or something to have a sticker with his name on the side of your enclosed trailer.

I do this with my vehicles all of the time! I negociate what I think is the best deal between to two dealerships and then tell them that I want another $250 off the final negociated price for that advertisment that they put on the rear of your vehicle (dealership tag. I don't know why you couldn't do the same thing with lawn equip. I think the best chance to get a contract with this idea in a lawn business, is signage on your trailer from whomever services your equip. for %50 off the labor when you need service. The sign could be something like " when we need service we go to (company x), they are the best around "
    Good luck
Let me know what you think of this idea!

I like the idea of having roaming billboards. I think that if you have an enclosed trailer or someplace to sell the space that you should. Im sure that the local dealers would give you $60 a year to have their name in a 2x2 square on your vehicle. this might be a good idea for you to have your tree guy put your name on his truck/trailer, or your dealer give you the same space idea. He will be taking equipment back to people who have either dropped it off or picked it up for service. Let him put your name out there also.
