My trailer ramps hinge along the floor of the trailer. The ramps are longer than normal and are reinforced to handle extra weight. For these reasons they are extremely heavy. Is there a spring system to make raising them easier?

Yes, it is real easy to do. Just mount a garage door spring inside a section of 2" plastic conduit and bolt it on your side trailer rails using clamps. Then hook some steel cable to the spring and the other end goes on the ramp.

Here's my setup. I bought some sheaves (rollers) from Tractor Supply and went to the machine shop. They fabricated a roller assembly and welded it to the trailer. I used 145 lb garage door springs on both sides. I can't imagine working without this setup.

My trailer came with lift assist on the tail gate. They help a lot.
