We are getting our buziness plan together to hopefully get going this coming spring. We are going to start out cutting only. We plan to get into mulching, trimming and fall cleanup in the future.

We know how much we are looking at for our equipment and advertising. But What about permits and insurance? How much do we need above and beyond?

Typically, registering your business name and license are cheap. I paid $30 for the license and $10 to register the name in Virginia. For liability insurance, check with Erie Insurance. They have good rates for "mowing only" operations. I pay only $235 a year.

Forgot to add, my insurance provides for $1 million in liability. I looked into maybe 20 different carriers when I started, Erie was the best deal by far.
