    Hi All,

Garden Tractor: Craftsman, model No. 917.275023 (23 HP Kohler, 48" deck)

Problem: Starter making a clicking noise.

    Battery: Brand new.

Dilemma: Do I change out just the solenoid kit ($72), or, the starter/solenoid kit ($187)?

    Thanks for your help.

On top of the solenoid, theyll will be two nuts that are holding down the positive and negative wires to it from the battery. Take some needle nose plyers, touch one end to the possitive and one end to the neg at the same time(hold it there) and try to start it. If it starts by doing that, then the solenoid is bad. If it doesnt start, odds are you have a bad connections somewhere.
Alot easier when you have someone helping you because you have to sit on the seat before it will start.
