especially at high RPMs...Is this normal for the unit? I absolutely love the power of the blower, but the sound is annoying...called Stihl and they did not think it was normal...thanks...

The exact same thing happened to me on and off. One day it just seized up on me, it was less than 2 years old. The dealer said that i ran straight gasoline in it and said that the only thing I could do was buy a new blower. I know for a fact that the fuel had the proper blend of oil so I got screwed on this one. My advice is TAKE IT IN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE so you don't blow the engine.

sad shame on a new machine with no hours...Heck, I even did something I have never done and kept the RPMs low to moderate for the first 3 tanks of fuel/oil mix per, it is a ringing/pinging metal sound...shing, shing, shing, shring, shring, ding, a, you all said that this is not normal?...and this is a new machine with no maybe 3 hours on it...
