A friend of mine told me Stihl came out with a new BR 700 Backpack blower. I just checked stihls website and didn't see anything on there. Anyone heard anything about this?

My local store JD/Stihl store doesn't have it, so I don't know. However, I'm going to buy a br600 today and I am damn sure going to ask about it. I'll wait a couple days for one (if there is such a thing) so it can be shipped.

I highly recommend using either the Stihl white bottles or Amsoil Saber for the BR600. There has been numerous issues with carbon on the valves and these oils keep that from happening or minimize it greatly.

Saber would be a good choice.

I asked about the 700 when I bought my 600 on Friday and my sales rep said there wasn't one. I asked about next year and he said there might be a higher number next year but will basically be the same machine.

He also recommeded that I use the Stihl oil, and to not go 100:1 if using amsoil.

Manufacturer's generally tell the dealers last; if they told them earlier they would be selling futures instead of product.

A BR700 is logical since there are numerous reviews that the BR600 is great just not as powerful as the latest Echo, etc. If it isn't out now I doubt it would show until sometime in 2011; to late for this season.

As to gas I use Shell premium. It is a matter of the additives. There are undoubtedly other brands that do it. The premium at Shell has over twice the amount of their other gasolines.

Actually, the dealers are usually the first to know, because who else is there? The consumer isn't going to know about it before the dealers. It usually starts with the 'soon to be out dated' model being hard to find. This is a sign that the dealer knows what is coming and they are trying to dwindle there inventory before the new product arrives.

That being said, I agree that it will probably be out next year in attempts to out do the Echo.
