Stihl trimmer quit and wont start. Only a backfire if I prime and choke. But no fire at all. Any ideas?

how old? last year when i got a new fs90r (?) the dealer said not to use the choke, and very few pumps of the primer bulb, that they shouldn't be needed. of course i forgot, and after a couple months starting it with the choke on, it quit just like you describe. since it was so new, i didn't even look at it, just took it back. a couple days later he called and said the air filter and plug were both saturated with fuel.

although he claimed he didn't have to, he covered it under warrenty. but he scolded me to stay off the choke...

Check your muffler screen for build up.

Turn it carb down for a few hours and see if fuel drips from the air filter. Needle valve could be bad and flooding the combustion chamber.
