I am about to buy a 2008 Stihl TS 460 for 900 bucks? It only has a few hours on it and looks real nice.

Is this a good machine for hardscaping?

Does anyone have one? What are your thoughts?

What is the difference between that and the 420? Power and or weight?

    Here is a pic.

Checked the stihl website, and it says something about while supplies last for the 460. Must be they are discontinuing the saw or upgrading all the saws to the x2 air filtration system?

    Any ideas?

Yup, I remember them, good saw, just keep the filters clean, they dirty up real fast. I think 900 is too much. I don't believe its a 2008, more like a 1998.

yeah... thats old man the filter should be in the back in a black casing... get the ts 400 ..its light and does the job great keep the filter clean and run it on premium. for what u got man ....350-400. remember u can buy a new one 4 about 1200, in canada anyways...in the u.s ...cheaper? i've had the same one for 5 years still works great ... just change the cord here and there.

I run TS400's. When they blow up its $150 for a new engine.......don't buy new. Find a blown one, often for free. Go to a rental place and talk to the small engine guy. He'll probably have a few dead ones and build you one for cheap.

Clean the filters, clean the filters, clean the filters........

yes, thats an old saw. Very old.

Stihl's current 460 model is a chain saw!

TThomass is correct. Find a used one. If it is worn out, you can buy a cylinder kit and rebuild the top end.

You should be able to pick up a brand new TS-420 for a little less than $1,000.00 who ever is trying to sell you one of those for $900 is looking to rip you off. get a new one and take care of it and it will last you a long long time with no worries.

I picked up an almost new ts800 with cart setup, a 16" diamond, and a 14" diamond for $950.00
