I don't know why so many people are in love with Stihl products.
I got an FS85r that was brand new from a customer who owed me some money. I think I'd rather have the money now.
First, it was way too loud. I can't believe how loud this thing is.
I decided to put a brush blade on it because I only need one occasionally.
Well, 5:30 this morning the occasion came.
I got to my first account at 5:30 to try and beat the heat a little.
Here is the result, a nasty little burn on my arm.
This thing kinda sucks all over huh?
I won't be buying any Stihl products at retail for sure.
Gimme my Robin please, thank you.

What did you toast yourself on? What part?
My FS80's upper cover will get damn-hot sometimes, but only under continued high rpm's - which I rarely do.

you really went through all of the trouble to take that picture and post it?

fwiw, my stihl backpack blower is the most reliable piece of equipment that I have ever owned.

I don't know man, I wasn't running it at high rpm because I really can't stand the noise. I was just brushing a bank, you know? Back and forth sweeping motion from all different angles. I did right of way clearing last winter so I do know how to do it.
I've used a lot of different trimmers but this is my first and last Stihl.

The muffler is right there on the 85. It gets really hot. Kind of a poor position to put the muffler. Problems solved on the 4-mix's.
