The nozzel on the br500 it a kind of muffler. If a manufacturer wants to make a under 65db blower (to comply with some local laws) they will usually use this "fat" tube although it lowers CFM a bit.
I just checked stihl.com and the BR500 is rated at 65db:clapping: while the BR600 is rated at 75db and if you check, the br600 has a bit more CFM's....What do you know, I was right for once!!!:drinkup:
