Anyone have a suggestion on stopping runners on bushes??

I've got a buddy that's just used glyphosate on the ends that keep popping up, says he's never had a problem with bushes dying.

I know I could just hit them with the trimmer, or pull them, but then you end up with either little tiny "stumps" over the mulched area, or disturbing the mulch when I pull them, usually leaving big clumps of overturned mulch.

Anyone here use the glyphosate method with success or anything else?

I use Roundup on Lilac runners with no death/damage to the parent tree.

I also use Roundup but Monterey chemical makes Sucker Stopper, haven't tried that yet.
