Stump The Technician...Name That Failure,,,

    Ok...the most common way this happens is when you unplug the white wire...the wire that grounds the coils when you turn the key off...
    You usually unplug the white wire in the engine harness to bypass the safeties or to isolate the kill wire ..

    Open diode in the ign. coil/module harness.

    Shorted diode/s in the main harness.

    Fish...this is the answer I was looking for...disconnected kill wire from the engine connector.

    That's part of the answer...probably have at least 1 smoked coil too...change everything..

    In case you were wondering...
    If the coils aren't gapped at .013...they will misfire..
    As the engine warms up..the block expands the airgap...from ..002 to .004...
    Thus bringing the coils that were gapped with an .010 business card into spec....

    Nope, didn't get one when I bought my first set back in the late sixties..just got the satisfaction of knowing I bought the highest quality toolboxes available!!
    Still got em, along with a second set. Simply the best!

    Hmmm....you were a little weak in the electrical portion of this thread....

    Question #8....Briggs 6 hp Quantum...vert shaft..
    Condition...installed new carb...good fuelflow to carb..still have to push the primer 10 times to start..
