You can also use it to check the combustion chamber depth...
I got it when I was having trouble with machine shops shaving too much off Kohler heads.
The valves like to stay open when you shave them too much..
Shimming the rockers is the only way I have found to overcome that problem.
Doing all the valve and headwork myself was how I eliminated the problem.

I'll play your game for a change, Slapper.

Judging from the size of the tool as it's placed on two paper towels, using the SWAG Theorem, I'd say it could be used as a U-joint removal tool.

Does that get me in the Lottery for a rack of BBQ ribs.

    You got it...

Knew you were laying back....waiting to pounce....
You and RestroRob are the only ones old enough to have ever seen one...
I used it to replace a Ujoint on a 4WD DitchWitch...without removing the shaft..
Saved me half a days labor..

If you had been down here helping me fabricate the doors, linkages, and controls on that competition smoker I've been building...You would be enjoying those RIBS...this very day...:cool2:

It was just a shot in the dark, Slapper--I've never seen one. When considering my guess, I was concerned that the tang didn't appear strong enough for that duty.
On the other hand, when I had a welder, back on the farm, I made up a U shaped contraption(in conjunction with a 2 jaw puller) that accomplished the same thing. When I finally bought an air hammer 25 years ago, the home made piece was retired to the junk bin.

By the way, it's not appropriate to use the term "old"--the proper one is "seasoned".
