Yes sir, the Do not call registry works wonders, my number is on it and you do not want to call me if you're selling something. It's a beautiful system because it stops most of them. As for the few that still call you, if you decide to report one of them, they catch a 500-dollar fine but here's how I do it: When someone like that calls me, they will try and interrupt, but I always let them know: - This number is in the Do Not Call Registry. (blablabla - they always interrupt, doesn't matter) next: - If you call this number again, I will file a report. (more blablabla from their end) Once I file the report, you will be fined 500 dollars for the violation. (usually, sudden silence... sometimes: but your number is in the phonebook). - It is your obligation to obtain a complete listing of all the numbers in the Do not Call registry, and compare these numbers against ones you are going to call, crossing off any that are on the list of do not call. (most have hung up by now) - Do not call this number again. click And man, I never hear back from them. ... Not true. There are a few are real stubborn, they have a problem understanding english. Twice, I have filed a report. You do it online, takes 10 minutes, you fill in some data. Once filed, immediate, utter and complete silence for at least 6 months. I love do_not_call registry. It is a neon-glow Turbo-powered DO NOT DISTURB sign. Works for any number, any service, any phone: home, business, cells, voips, etc.
