Well, for anyone who read my questions regarding the cost for edging...the project was yesterday and we finished it all in 10 1/2 hrs. We edged two and half miles! Got 25 cents a foot and the place looks beautiful. We even had some tenants tell us the place looked nice. Almost makes it worthwhile when you get a compliment or two.

Just a tip, it would be best if you put this post at the end of your other thread so we knew what you were referring to.

$3000+ for a day of edging? I'd do it! Have you got the money yet?

When measuring edging do you count both sides of the sidewalk considering you have to edge both sides? I measured the sidewalk - it's 900 feet do I quote him at 900 feet or 1800 feet? New to business, if you couldn't tell already. Thanks for the help!

Total linear feet. Every foot that edger runs over, its part of the bid.

So jtrice11, what did you end up using to get the job done? I saw another post of yours about this job inquiring about what kind of edger to use.
Curious what you ended up with?

Also, how much did you end up taking away with you? Did it come off in strips, or just some clippings and dirt that was able to be blown back into the grass?

GoGetter, We rented power edgers--I don't know what brand they were but they were 5 hp walk behinds, with 10 inch blades. We went through about 7 blades between the two of them. THe strips of sod we loaded into our dump trailer. I'd say we had about 3 cubic yards of sod/debris. There was a sizeable amount of dirt, so we had guys sweeping and loading the big stuff and we used our blowers to blow the edges of the curbs clean. Hope that answers your questions.
