suggestions

    need plants the tolerate shade and can survive a pine enriched soil high ph in ohio

    And Ohio winters, of course.

    Are you sure the ph is high? Acidic soil would be low, by the way. But, I live in a pine forest, and have a couple hundred pine trees on the property, however the ph is still close to normal.

    Unless if your ph is abnormally low, I wouldn't think that you would have to limit yourself as much as perhaps what you're thinking.

    How do azaleas do up there? Down here, azaleas and pine trees are a fairly common sight. The encore azaleas, I've installed quite a few the past couple years.:)
