I got a phone call yesterday from my local CAT salesman. Seems they are PDIing 256 completely loaded in Wa. and are sending it out here with the regional compact equipment specialist. They want to schedule a demo next week sometime.

Great timing as that commercial job will need to be backfilled.

I found this a little interesting given our last conversation. I did not think I would hear from him again. I think QPS called CAT and helped. I don't know why I just have a feeling.:nono:

Here I thought it might have been Ed McMahon with the sweepstakes check, or Howie Mandel or Who Wants to be a Millionaire OR maybe QPS calling you to say that is the best hat he has ever owned and since having that hat his business has increased 100%.....

As far as the call from CAT, that doesn't surprise me at all. You initially caught them off-guard - so they acted defensively, they have soaked on it awhile and see an opportunity.......

Howe is trip. I would like to hire one of the briefcase models to do collections for me. I somehow think, I would get my money. Mrs. K would not be too hip on it but hey. I hope that CASE hat brings QPS great fortune. It was one of my favorites. It had a picture of a kid with a CASE hat on peeing on a CAT symbol. OK I kept that hat, but still his was cool.:clapping:

What did I tell you? I had arranged for that machine to leave WA and head your way. Told them you were a high roller and you only buy new iron. Also told them you were in the market for a new 15 ton excavator. I personally checked out that 256 last week, it should be good to go for your needs. Send me your praise later.

High roller yea. Starving in the "land of plenty" is more like it. When you checked out the machine Scag did you insert a "can of man" into that machine? Its is gonna need it.

Keep that machine in perspective, it's a 2400 ROC class machine with 82 horses. I'd be willing to bet the 272C would give your 465 a good run.

I shoulda left you a Cat hat in the cab.

I honestly will give him 1 hour. I know he will sit in it long enough to draw a conclusion about the degree of hate. I know when I first started running my buddy's Gehl 5640, I didn't like it that much, now it's not so bad. We all know he's not going to like this machine, might as well come to grips with that.

Yea I told them to match their machine to the 440. Judging by the spec sheet, the 256 would be more closely matched to a 450 as far as ROC although a lot lighter. Hp wise the 256 and 440 match pretty closely. It is the torque I will most interested to see. The spec sheet says 217 for CAT and 265 for the CASE. I am curious to see how it runs. CASE dealer here has ordered some Series 3 machines, when I will get to run one who knows. I will demo one before I make a decision. It would be nice to have them side by side. I plan on taking notes.

Tim, I am lover not a haterd.:dancing: If I like it I will pass that along just as I did with the Bobcat 220. It was the first Bobcat that I ran that would at least consider buying. I actually even got a price quote on it before buying the 440. It was cheaper than the CASE, but of course it was not significant enough of a difference or good enough in the performance area to buy (compared to the 440, by itself however it was not bad at all), however I did consider it.

We will see what the 256 can do. I will have my 440 on that backfill more than likely so at least I can compare those two although not exactly similiar.
