Would it be beneficial to use synthetic for this engine? It's on a 48' Gravely walkbehind. If so, what weight and brand do you recommend?

If synthetic is not the way to go what's the best regular oil to use? What weight?

    Thanks

We run Mobil 1 10w-30 synthetic in all are Kohler & Kawi engines. I feel the extra money for oil is well worth a few more bucks.

    Mobil 1 10w-30 synthetic, too.
Why don't they make full syn. in a straight 30 W?

Was told not to use Mobil 1 until it had quite a few hours on it.

I was also under the impression that you let the motor break in before adding synthetic oil.

I had already changed to Mobil 1 after the first oil change, only to hear on the Exmark forum it was a bad thing to do. Drained it back out, and waited (forget how long they said to wait) till I had maybe 100 hours? (can't remember)

Always liked Castrol myself, but so many oils, so many opinions!
More often can be alot more important that which brand.

Good thing I didn't change it yet. I was going to do it tomorrow. I'll have to check into that a little further.
