Okay I am 6'4" and am having trouble as I get older (52) using the shorter string trimmers. I have checked out the Tanaka extended reach trimmer at $375.00 from Wisesales and have found it is the only one out there so far. Are there any others I should check on. Redmax used to have one but cannot find it anymore. BTW it needs to be commercial grade!! We currently use Tanaka 260pf and Redmax BCZ2650T trimmers.

Try a Red Max they seem to have a longer shaft. I think they changed the model number on the one I have. I know it has a 30cc engine.

The RedMax is definitely longer than that short Shindaiwa T242, but I
don't think you're gonna find a trimmer that's as long as that Tanaka.

The industry standard shaft length is 59 inches.

The Tanaka's shaft length is 71 inches.

I'm 6'6" also and I bought the Tanaka and will keep buying them. Had Shindaiwa's before that and your back will surely thank you. Don't remember the model #, but I will check it and post back.

Kind of ridiculous when you think about it that no once has designed an ergonometrically designed trimmer yet-like really one size fits all- LOL
