That's Stihl for ya. All their new 4 cycles. I HATE THOSE D**N CAPS. I've broken a few! It screws on, looks like it's closed, you pick up the machine to start walking away & there is mixed gas spilling everywhere!!!! Can you tell that's happened a few times to me? Those caps S**K!!!

That is exactly what I'm talkin about. I got a new cap, but it does the same thing. But this is the only Stihl machine that has that cap, the rest of my Stihl equip has the good ol screw on type. ???

I don't think that there's a fix for it, that's totally normal. I've talked to a few other guy who also HATE those caps. Now, before I leave the trailer after fueling up, I tip the machine to make sure the cap is on.

Just go slow putting those caps on & make sure to tip the machine & make sure that they are on while still on your trailer. Mine are even a pain in the you know what to get off. I use a Stihl edger & blower with those stupid new caps.

Yeah, just go real slow and be patient. I used to hate them, but once you get the hang of it they arent too bad. I will deal with it for the extra power.

The extra power makes it worth it in my experience. Like lawnman said, once you get the hang of it they aren't that bad. Just always make sure they are on BEFORE you go on to your customers property!:dizzy::hammerhead:

rofl... I've that hedger since May of 2007,still pisses me off when I gas it up. My church property that I take care of has alot of hedges. Takes me atleast an hour to do all of them. Without the hedger I would be in trouble. Don't get me wrong, I love the machine, lots of power like you guys said. Thanks for the info bruthas, stay warm..... friggin too cold for Fl! LOL :waving:

You can feel the cap pop up a little bit and thats when you know its not locked down. I have punched a stihl cap cuz it wouldn't go on and the thing exploded into a million parts. I took me like an hour to put it all back together. I guess the only thing is be patient and align it wright the first time.

The problem that I'm also having w/my br600 cap is that it doesn't want to come off. Sometimes I even have to get a pair of pliers out to grab it & pull it off. It turns fine, it just doesn't want to come off.
