I was wondering you know them thatching blades with the 2 springs that they sell at home centers or hardware stores. Do they work or do they just tear up the existing lawn. It looks like to me they would but I'm not sure. If any body used them could you tell me if its worth the effort. thank you

Don't bother, your opinion of them is correct. Unless you're going to use them one time on a lawn.

I used one earlier in the spring, it RUINED my mower but made the lawn look good. Just rent a thatcher and do it right the first time.

These things are about the best way to butcher a lawn there is. Tears up the plants well. I sort of equate it to using a chainsaw to trim a hedge. You'll cut the canopy off, but look at all the damage you do to the plant in doing so. They are junk and should be treated as such.
