For all the young guys just starting out here's a brief list of what you will have to contend with in the years to come.

    1) A total ban on Pesticides likely by 2007

    2) Increasing bans on Blowers in urban areas

    3) Increasing Enviro-Nut restrictions on gas powered equipment.

    4) No or Slow Growth Turf Grass.

    5) The depletion of the world's oil reserves. Skyrocketing fuel prices.

Thankfully I will be entering full retirement by /07 and will enjoy the financial benefits reaped from years of burning gasoline like air and spreading chemicals like water.

I suggest the younger crowd return to their job @ McDonald's or go back to school to prepare for future careers focusing on non maintenance services.

The only thing I'm concerned about it the (no or slow growth turf grass) at a garden show I looked at turf that only needed to be cut once a year. :realmad:

you new guys: don't listen to fareway. he has been banned more times than I have fingers.

the industry will cope with everything that comes at it. I may be looking more into landscaping and tree trimming services in the comeing years though.

    This is one cheery thread.

I personally believe we are heading toward a totally service oriented society.

Think about the the more of those 600,000 + homes that go up the less time people have to maintain them.

    Personally I couldn't disagree more.

    Bad day or something?

Does the pesticide regulation apply in Canada only? The slow growing turf grass is scary.

WOW!!! you'll be retiring at 31 years old!! What a great feeling that must be!!!!!!!...............not!

More good news for Canada. If I were you I would move further north where it snows all year. Start pushing snow full-time. You won't have to worry about pesticede regulations or slow growing turf grass where there is Perma-Frost.

The Pesticide bans are Coming....Canada is the training ground...The Blower Bans are already in the US....The Enviro Nut Restrictions Started in California USA...The Worlds Oil Reserves will Begin to Deplete 2006, prices will skyrocket....The new Turfgrass is close.

It may not be a Pretty Picture But its Fact.
