I work in a shop that sells Tanakas, the other day I had to replace the seals on a TBC 245 PF, What a bear... is there a tool that your techs would recommend ?

We don’t offer a special tool for this particular application. Here at Tanaka, we pry them out with a small driver or awl. It sounds as though you may have been removing them while the crankcase was still assembled. It’s easier if you split the cases and press them out from the inside.

I'm not looking for a special tool, I have enough of them :) But using a small screw driver or an awl on a seal this small can be dangerous, you can break the lip that the seal sits in, bin there done that  Oh well, Snap On dealer comes tomorrow :clapping:
