I know these aren't nearly as popular as a 310/410 Deere or a 416 Cat, but an 2002 with similar hours is running over $25k on those machines. With that said, what do you guys think about this New Holland?

An "almost new machine" doesn't have 1700+ hours, they were good machines at the time.

I dont like New Holland construction equipment. Its almost like they try to be the light duty construction equipment. Also consider Case backhoes even if you dont like Case as a whole they sure make good backhoes.

I'm open to any major brand. It's just that the Deeres and Cats in my price range have 3500+ hours. I'm going to have to get my boat sold before I can buy, I just want to have a good handle on the market.

I know where there is a 310J down your way for a decent deal.

I currently own a LB75.B and have owned 4 0ther Ford / New Holland Backhoes. They are great machines, Have incredible backhoe digging power and awesome loader lifting capacity. A Friend of mine has a 420E CAT and my New Holland will out dig his any day. My New Holland will bring the front wheels off the ground digging and the CAT will pop the relief valves. 18,000 doesn`t sound like a bad deal if the machine has been taken care of.
