    Wow!!
    Guys--Stop the press!
You have to understand how my city works along with the City Planning Commission. Anytime a new sidewalk, street, embankment, and all other Capital Improvements is made, they always use the local growing Bermuda grass. Locally, it is Tifway 419 and I can attest that I hate it...........with a passion as it doesn't perform as it states in their publications. I had nothing to do with this type of turf as this is pretty much the only available grass other than Emerald Zoysia and Palisades.
Didn't mean to get the reel mower's heckles all worked up.
All I was trying to tell you is................This grass can be cut taller and perform well! But you are going to have to baby it with a syringe. This clinic is paying me well 12 months of the year to keep it looking at its best.

In my area...........the lawns roll more than the ocean and is more bumpy than Oklahoma highways, so no!!! I am not reel mowing lawns that will look worse before you start.

It would be great times for us if customers returned to the days of wanting to be the envy of the neighborhood. Now it's just the occasional stand out surrounded by meh to the downright deplorable.:usflag:

When your talking to a homeowner on a lawn forum the correct advice for the turf in question will be posted. A reel mower is the best way to mow Bermuda...period.

  6. Yup, sports turf is designed to be cut short. Just like st Augustine is designed to be cut high. The only reasons it doesn't happen this way is 1.) service provider doesn't know what he's doing or 2.) homeowner won't pay for correct service practices.

You have won the grand prize with your post. Thanks.
It is the Bobby Gedd golden shovel.

Some customers don't want anything but the basic's and other want nothing.

In essence guys, when you pull up to a lawn that is in doubt of remotely being level, you will mow that thing higher if the customer doesn't want to correct the problem of uneven spots and poor grade quality. Sorry............that is the truth.

  8. I get what your saying, and agree. All I'm saying is that the masses(homeowners) really have no clue about landscaping and gardening. They see someone with a zoysia lawn being maintained with a reel and now they want a zoysia lawn. When you tell them it should be cut with a reel and will cost more, they flip out....well, if they knew that from the start, they might have thought twice about buying zoysia. I have had people want estimates on their property bc they saw one that I maintained that looks flawless...well, it cost time and money for flawless, which they didn't want to pay....
