timing cover

    does this hole get plugged up by a bolt or cap?....antifreeze coming out of it.....any help would be appreciated....thanks..

    Looks like possibly a tempature activated vaccum hose valve may have went in there at one time. Are there threads in the hole ? What engine is this ?

    If that is as Ford v-8 then it looks to me like the hole for the temp sending unit that goes the the temp guage on your dash.

    i agree...looks like for the temp sender. ford timing covers are full of coolant. but why is it missing? doesnt look like something that would just "fall out"
