I don't think there is anything you can do but replace it.

I had one break after a couple hundred hours. Have one that has lasted several years but doesn't see much use. Tiny Tachs seem to be hit or miss. That is the only thing I don't like about the new Dixie Chopper we just bought, it has a Tiny Tach on it.

    From their site:

How is the Tiny-Tach powered? A 3 volt lithium battery powers the gas Tiny-Tachs.

How long does the battery last? The lithium battery life calculates to 5+ years under normal use. It probably will last longer, but it is not replaceable because the tachs are potted and cannot be opened. Although very low draw, the battery is always on, and will display the hours when the engine is not running. If there is no display, the battery is dead. We do not recommend buying tachs from 3rd party dealers unless you are sure that it is not too old. The diesel Tiny-Tach has flash memory - no battery.

I have the Sen Dec Tach on my Chopper not the Tiny Tach. Will see how long this one lasts.

  5. I would be even more ticked in your case...you buy a 9 or 10K mower and they put that pos meter on...even in my case where I don't get one from the factory....
