People love their pets. I even have to admit that I am especially fond of my main man Rocky, my cat. And I am growing to enjoy my wife's 5 month old Akita, Apollo. Now working outside, not everyone loves other people's pets, especially when you accidentally step in something left behind in the yard... but getting past those unpleasant experiences and realizing many people feel that their pets, dogs especially are part of their family, can win you a few points.

With it being the holiday season it is not always easy to figure out how to thank your clients. Sending the traditional holiday greeting cards is definitely a good thing, but if you are willing to go the extra mile...

Go to your local pet store and find some gifts for their dogs - doesn't have to be anything fancy - maybe a new collar, or chew toy... a few years ago for about 8 or 9 of my clients, I went to PetCo and had dog name tags made up - engraved with their first and last name (the dog's) and address - cost me $2 for each tag. Went over well... saw one of those clients of mine the other morning walking their dog "Chelsea" past my house, chatted for a few moments, and the customer pointed out that Chelsea was still wearing the tag we got her.

    Just a thought...
