Just wondering what I need to do in order to properly overseed a lawn.

Can it be done and still get good results without aerating first?

Does the soil need to be broken up in some way, or can the seed just be spread right into the existing lawn?

How late in the fall should I wait to do it?

    Fertilize before it or not?

I'll be using a mix of bluegrass, rye, and fescues.

    Any info would be appreciated.
