My father and I have been cutting residential lawns(20) for a couple of years now. He owns a Lazer Z 17/48 Kaw that has been a great asset. I have a 17/42 MTD bagger Briggs. Nether of us have done much research on lawn maintence.

    We also have
    2 Echo Comm. trimmers
    2 " " Edgers
    2 " " Blowers

The thing is we are splitting to go solo, both part-time, do to conflicting schedules.

    Anyway, I have many questions!

The equip. I have now is:
-Mtd 17/42 Briggs (with a bad whine in rear?)
    -Echo Blowers(2) Trimmer (1) Edger (1)
-8 X 10 open trailer W/ drop gate (no racks)
    -Chev P/U 1500

I am ready to start building Equip Inventory but dont know jack about the pros and cons of the different tools.

most likely if you can afford it, you should try to get a hold of a good commercial Z , I like the scag 48" cub, but they run around 6 grand. I guess you could also get a good hydro WB at around 2 or 3 grand.

Your equipment decisions should be based in part on the size of your customers lawns. A ZTR is not the best if you're doing tiny lawns with gates. Are they small or large, generally?
