Hey all, SW Ohio here, I have a customer who is wanting a river birch in her yard installed ASAP. Didn't know if it would be too late to plant that this year or not. I don't know how well they hold up once the weather turns cold. Any advice please let me know!

If the ground is not frozen, you should be fine. Just be very careful if the birch comes B&B, to keep the root ball tight and intact. The tree is likely dormant now, so you may have to stake to keep it upright through the winter.

don't plant too deep (shallow & wide). Top of root ball above grade about an inch, mulch and stake.
