Too late to seed for clients in the NE?

    You are right but you also have to look at how cool this spring has been. You should be perfectly fine to do it in the next two weeks or so. Just instruct them to water if the tempos suddenly start soaring.

    The idea that grass can not establish well enough to endure the Summer heat is dependant on a number of factors... just as the emergence of CG is dependant on a number of factors... the basic fundamental concept that tie those 2 ideas together is water and temperature control...

    I would never willfully deny a client the seeding of bare ground in the Spring, Summer or Fall... I've seeded at all those times and only had a problem on lawns that were chemically crippled with pre-M... I have only one way of dealing with CG and Pre-M is not that way...

    The basic fundamental principle from which all other considerations stem is moisture and temperature control... there really is the fault of the mower more than the irrigation,,, but even if mowing ceases,,, the irrigation may be required in order to ensure the survival of the baby seedlings...

    Compost covered seed for bare spots,,,worked in with a garden weasel type tool is always better than dust, mud or CG during the Summer...
