I'm at the local Stop-N-Rob doing my daily fuel up and a man at another pump asks if I can mow his 4-acre property just outside of Dallas. He then says that his last guy was doing this for $20.00/acre, once a month. I politely said that my lowest rate was $25.00 and that was for 1/4 acre 1/2 duplex residential and that without seeing his property I would estimate $90.00/acre on a once monthly plan.

Pretty cheap if you ask me.

Sounds like he was actually after some brush hogging.....

No less than $200 per cut

I dont think so. He said that he mowed it with his push mower (not self propelled) and it took him 3 days. Had to go to the doctor because he couldn't use his hands. Too much vibrating I guess.

If it was brush hogging, $200 would be right around what I'd quote him.

Using a homeowner unit on 4 acres is just plain insane.

Wow, imagine that, the last guy did it for $20 an acre. Where's the last guy now? I've heard "the last" guy story so many times.

There ya go. That is exactly my thoughts. My reply would've been. "You better call him!"

Yow, I wonder why the "last guy" isn't doing it now. Probably because he went broke and is no longer in business. :)
