    8. develop a good reputation, it's the best form of marketing...

    1) do not buy homeowner equipment and expect it to last.
    2) get insured/ licensed
    3) as stated above, please,please,please do not blow clippings onto the road! (Why do I see this so much?)
    4) be courteous to customers & neighbors (even the ones you'd like to throttle)
    5) remember you're in this to make money, not to do favors. There will always be those who try to add this, that, & the other once the price has been settled and work begun. Tell them there will be a charge for it if it's not on the proposal. ( if it's something minor, use your judgement)

    Love this thread! I don,t want to sound stupid but what does LLC stand for? Reply to this post please! Only 14 so all of this advice helps!

    Basiclly it protects you in the event of a law-suit.

    It also prevents the double taxation that occurs with a C-corp.

    1. DONT GO INTO DEBT!

    2. Keep clean cut, no tank tops and so on.

    3. Do the best work you can, make the houses look good.

    4. Build a route.

    5. Keep your route tight.

    6. Wear a wide brim hat, even if you think it looks stupid.

    7. Stay out of the Poison Oak.

    8. Respect the elderly that you work for.

    9. If you need accounts try to get to estmates as soon as possible.

    10. Enjoy, and be Thankful you don't work for the man.

    The most important thing is DONT GO INTO DEBT!

    1. sunscreen Use it!
    2. learn from your mistakes.
    3. if you underbid or mess up causing you to lose money on a job make it right and finish it for the prices quted. Remember Education costs money.
    4. Keep as much money in the business as possible.
    5. Network with people in the green industry.
    6. Network and build relationships with anyone you can. This will pay off down the road.
    7. Look and act professional.
    8. Understand what it actually costs you to go to work. Just because you work out of your garage and have a truck already does not mean these things are free.
    9. Be thankful.
    10. As someone said always stop at lemonade stands. We tell everyone to stop whether they want it or not.
