I have four toro 21. Can't beat the Suzuki engine, built like a tank.

Toddman...I very rairly mulch with them, but the times I have mine has left packed down grass under the wheels also.

The Toro Proline are the best out there. THey take the abuse that we put them through and all of mine start first pull still.

We run 4 commercial 21" 4 cycle toro mowers. They last a long time under very rough conditions. Both engine choices are fine. The engines will probably outlast the components on the mower. I think the people who badmouth them haven't put much time behind 21" mowers. IMO they are the best built 21" mower on the market.

I have a toro 21 homeowner model its a personal pace and that mechanism works great! the engine is very quiet too! the mulching is good too..only problem I have w it is a lack of lift if it is set to cut at 3 or higher and it does not cut thin areas well either
