I've got a 3 year old Toro 22" recycler that is having problems staying started. It starts in one pull and sounds fine but after 2 seconds the mower shuts off. I have no idea what is causing this. Any one have any idea.

more than likely a clogged carb or dirt in the carb bowl. drain your tank first, then remove the carb bowl nut (gold nut, 1/2 wrench) located under the red primer bulb area. this will allow you to remove the silver bowl. clean out the bowl, rest of the carb and also the gold bowl nut is your main jet. Need to look down the center portion of the nut and clean that small hole out as it may be clogged with debris or varnish..

now if it is a tecumseh engine, which it should be on a 22" (will also say it on the bottom of the carb bowl) there is a step in the bowl, when you put it back on make sure the shallow part of the bowl is closest to the engine block, deep side out towards you.

    good luck
