I have a friend who is offering to sell me a toro 355 for $1200. He has had the gearboxes and driveshafts replaced recently, and says the engine and hydraulic system are fine. I trust him.
The mower has 1000 hours on it.
Is this a good deal, if I can put it to use as a backup or fall cleanup?
    Thanks,
    Matthew

There is the same mower @ portlandimplement.com EXACTLY like it for $4,500. If you like it, GET IT !!!!!

I had one, very good mowers, I liked it more than the walker I had.

mine was an '01 model, this model and earlier had issues with bent and out of balance faulty drive shafts and poor spindle protection, but apparently models after that they got right.

if the deck has zero vibration, go for it.....any deck noise, and vibration, walk away.

I think 1200 is a pretty good deal. Like I said, fall cleanups.........

Is it a fast mower, can you cut grass with it quickly (my current mower is a super z!)? also, how does it do on hills? Did the decks come in any size other than 48"?

it's alright with speed faster than a walker, and you can move quickly when mowing. hills are no problem for this beast it weighs so much.

Great! One more, can you put bags in the back, or does it just dump?
