I have a toro 36" with 15hp kohler engine. It is smoking real bad, mostly on hills and when you turn quickly. It starts on the first pull when cold and seems to still have plenty of power. I was wondering if all it needs is new rings or is the motor shot. It has smoked a little for the last two years, but now it is horrible.

    What do you think?

It may be the head gasket, IDK. I had a 15 Kohler that was doing the same thing, right in the busy part of the season. I just kept adding oil when needed, hoping it would be OK till I had time to tear into it and fix it. This was a bad move on my part, the motor blew on me.

Possible you are getting gas into your oil? Smell your dipstick.
