I've got a toro proline 21" and the blade cutting is intermittent. Ive replaced the pulley which was damaged, the woodruff key, the flywheel, and put it back together it worked for a while and disengaged. I'm thinking that the v - belt may be worn. Can anyone else give me some thought on this? I would appreciate it very much, Thanks

it may sound dumb, but are you sure the blade itself isn't slipping?

Thanks for your help and with all the provoking thoughts, I got lucky and found the problem. After a nights rest I noticed that the blade clutch mechanism on the deck was not pivoting. Guess what, the cable was broke and you could not see it, because it was hidden behind the control brackets. Well I guess I'll learn one day! Once again thanks for all of the help because it really does make you put your thinking cap on .
