I am wondering what the max I could tow with a 98 f150 1/2 ton with the 4.6L would be. It has a 5000lbs. hitch on it and I was looking to get a 7'x16' trailer (enclosed) with 7000gvw. Can I use this truck to tow with and what upgrades should I make to it for towing. Already has tow package from factory. Thanks.

Make sure to get a brake system cause you might end up wearing the brakes down on your truck

until recently i was pulling 6X12 WITH A CHEVY 1500. it did fine but hills are slow and braking at times almost scary. i agree with getting the brake control. very wise investment.

Your truck should pull fine, but like others have said, trailer breakes may be worth looking into.
