The last time I bolted it with bolts and washers it cut through the aluminum in about 6 months.

If it is an aluminum sign and you have an expanded metal gate, I would use about 6 bolts, probably 1/2 in nuts and heads, and just bolt it to the gate. You may or may not want to build up spacers between the sign and the expended metal so you do not bend the sign when you tighten it down.

You could also use metal wire and tie it to the gate, but I think that bolting it will keep it more secure and look better.

Can you take a pic of your gate and post it here? I need to see why bolting it messed up your sign and I will be able to use your picture to explain my idea to you based on how your gate is designed.

I welded "L" brackets to the frame of the gate. I then bolted right through the sign and a sheet of 1/2 inch plywood. The plywood was cut to the same size as the sign and the back (facing the mesh) was painted black.

Real solid, lasted over 4 years until I took it off.
