I'm not much of a mechanic so maybe someone out there can help me out. My problem is with an Exmark Metro HP 48" belt drive with 16HP B&S. Its 5 years old. When I'm mowing in 1st or 2nd gear and engage the brake and then let go the machine bucks. Feels like the brakes are not releasing immediately or the tranny is slipping. I tightened the tranny belt with the moon shape adjustment on the deck. Thanks.

It sounds to me like the tranny belts are engaging when the brake is being released. Does this model have the T bar or not?

The machine has pistol grip steering.

Try losening the brakes (or totally disconnect them), and see if this solves the problem. If it does, than adjust the brakes properly. If it is not the brakes or the drive belts, than my guess is that there is a transmission problem. Hope this helps!
