I have a 48" Lesco WB. The transmission is about to go. Can it be rebuilt or do I have to buy a new one? If I can rebuild it will it hold up?

    Thanks

If it has the Peerless 5-spline my 36" has, just buy a new one for $169 and take 2 hours or less to put it in. Well worth knowing you're good to go and don't have to wonder if you missed anything on a rebuild.

Is it tough to put one in. I am semi mechanically inclined........

LawnTamer (my brother) has done two of them. He could give you the details, but aside from a shim that's tough to break loose, it's a pretty simply bolt on, bolt off sort of configuration. You might send him a PM and he'll give you the nitty gritty.

What exactly is the trans doing that makes you think it is going bad ?
It would be easier and cheaper to just buy a new one then put the time and trouble into fixing it. Yes, they can be rebuilt, but unless you have looked inside one before and have a good idea of what you are looking for......
