I generally charge 3x the retail price, includes your mark up, as well as the warranty and any loam needed to amend the soil.

you would need a tree spade to correctly dig a root ball, would you not? Those attachments are price and the machines they are on are pricey as well.

Im not much help, but that seems to be a boring job. lol. Guess thats why you are hiring out help!

we typically use a 2-3.5 ton mini excavator to dig tree to holes to plant the trees (again my wording may be confusing).

its more efficient for me to sub out things, or so Im trying to find out.

typically sub excavators run 50-80 an hour.

3x retail would be 9 grand for planting... good luck on that.

anyone near uniontown looking for planting work, contact me before monday or ill one call united and do it ourselves.

If I get to spot with a 2-3.5 ton excavator That would be easy

Most time I can dig a hole for 2''-3'' cal trees in 20-30 mins by hand

I don't mark up my plants, I sell a 1 year warranty and make my money on my install labor.

i believe you could hand dig a hole but 24 holes is a long ways to go.

how on earth do you get the tree into the hole without a machine tho?

those babies are every bit of 600#

i use the same size mini, takeuchi tb125 with a thumb and charge the customer 300 for machine just to be there per day, then whatever i spent on the plants/trees/shrubs including tax, and diesel to get there, x2 or x3 if its a really small plant like a pachysandra or vinco vine, and its sold by the flat. and then i add sales tax on top on that price, and no one ever says no....50-80 hour doesn't exist up here in ct when your running a mini x 130/hr minimum and 3 hour minimum at that otherwise its not even worth moving the machine.
