tree problem

    Black knot of plum. Common, not pretty, but on ornamental plum (or cherry), it is not the end of the world.

    Prune out the cankers a few inches below them. Apply a labeled fungicide to prevent new infections in early spring just before the new leaves come out when temps hit about 55.

    I recently did some research on this (partially because I came across your thread) and I think you may benefit from reading the article I wrote on Black Knot Fungus. There is not a lot of information available for fungal treatment but it's also not too complicated. Best of luck.

    thanks for the info but the tree is long gone now and I have since replaced it with something else.
