Trench down about 8' to get your 6' or
contact vermeer or ditch witch to get proper tools, you may need a "certain" type of chain

a crumber "feeds" the chain with the spoils that fall back into the ditch, mine is a swinging arm style and works fine.

like most things, you can't always use it due to limited space or tight turns.

i'll see if i can find a picture

tight turns are not a problem. the crumber I think will fix my problem. I will be fabricating one for myself. most likely it will be a fixed position one or mechanically adjustable.

A crumber is exactly what you need. It's job, as someone posted, it to take the spoils and feed them back into the chain and it will "drag" the bottom of the trench and keep it clean I would buy one and not make one.
