Need to put a new trimmer rack on my trailer and got to wondering---What is the best distance to set the racks apart? I know what will fit my trimmers, but was thinking I might buy a different trimmer in the near future. I think they should be as far apart and still get a size that will fit almost any trimmer. Anyone know what they think is the best distance to spread the racks?

Mine are about 3 feet. I made my own. It holds 5 trimmers. 2 are turned opposite direction. Best not to have the racks set real wide, different trimmers and edgers are different length.

Seems like it would be less stress on shafts of the trimmers to be as far apart as possible. Thought someone with lots of different trimmers may have found the best width.

4 feet if you have a curved shaft then try 3 an a half feet.

The tool handle rests in the rack and the other end really doesnt matter because the trimmer head end doesnt weight much. I have never had any trouble with wear on the tools from riding in the racks. 2 of them have been on the trailer for 4 years.
