Hi, I have a sod laying job I'm going to be doing in a couple weeks, and I was wondering what kind of knife other landscapers use for trimming sod? Where would you get it from? Thanks:usflag:

We use a utility knive. You can get them anywhere. They work well..but tend to dull out fast.

Go to Wal Mart and buy a few packs of cheap steak knives. It will cut right through the sod and makes nice clean edges. After the job, throw the used ones away because the teeth will be worn down and get another pack for the next sod job. We buy a pack of 4 steak knives for $3.99 at a dollar store here. Good luck with your job.

By far; the fastet way to finish sod is with a stick edger.payup

Put on a fresh blade and trim the sod at walking speed.

For cutting around sprinkler heads, serrated knife. Use one you can toss after your'e done.
