ok, recently i got an 15 year old craftsman rider that has a 12hp I/C briggs on it. it has electric start and non-electric pto. On the other hand i have a 33'' troybilt widecut and it has a 10 horse briggs on it with a pull start. is it possible to switch out these motors easily or will i run into problems. for example saftey switches how would i disable them. btw, the rider was a residential use and has very little hour it runs awsome. and what gains in power would i gain from this. they are different styles of motors

Well, If you post the model and type numbers off both engines I can see the difference in the two and give some suggestions. You shouldn't have to do anything with the safety switches.

OK, The easiest way to do this swap is mount a small motorcycle battery on the unit and use a Snapper part# 12623 push button start switch.
Run the charging system wire right to the positive battery post and the kill switch wire to the coil as on the 10hp engine. All safety switches should be ran to the coil kill wire already. This 12hp could be converted to rope start but would take a little work and I believe quite a bit more money for the parts than just mounting a battery.

Now, what would I need a farm for? Just send me a check for the cash equivalent and we'll be settled up.
