As i am planning my next truck purchuse i am wondering how big of a truck i would need to pull both my 246b skid steer and a 4 ton excavtor?

Just curious if this will be possible without going with a tandem.

F550 and a gooseneck trailer would handle that.

Im not much on excavaters models but i have a friend who really does things in the right manner , he pulls a large john Deere excavater at times with a single axle.

If its single axle truck and bumper pull trailer, anything with a 19,500 gvw and up to 26k, so it's under cdl and tandem.

I would do a international, or 6500 with duramax with Allisons. I have a f-550 forget it not reliable, porwerful enough, without runing too many egt's at 55 mph and burning it's motor and turbo up.

I was looking at Under CDL 25999 GVV Int 4700s. I know i would need a class A to tow a trailer, but atleast my workers could drive it without a one when it isn;t towing.

So will a 26k gvw be enoug or should i bump up to 33k?

a 25,900 gvw truck wont work beacuse if you do tow 18,000 lbs i hope the truck wieghs under 7,900 lb or you will be over wieght. You have to remember when ou register the truck at 25,900 GVW that is also registed for 25,900 GCVW.

I would go to atleast 33k and you should not have to worry about it.

You already have to get your class A, might as well get a single axle 5 yard dump rated for 33K. That will handle all your towing needs and Internationals in good shape can be had for $10-15K. Your guys won't be able to drive it, but that's how it goes sometimes.

To bad your so far away up in Jersey because I'm thinking of selling mine. I have a 87 international S1900 DT466 10 speed road ranger 12 foot dump telescopic hoist, air brakes, air gate, air pto, and air to rear for trailer hook up.
